Wakkerstroom Farm lodge is a bird watchers paradise, situated on the outskirts of Wakkerstroom on the south-eastern Highveld, approximately 250 kilometers (3 hours) from Johannesburg. Wakkerstroom is a world-renowned wetland, well known for its endemic bird species such as Rudd’s and Botha’s Larks. Other specialties to be found in the vast grassland include all three Crane species, Ground Woodpecker, Bald Ibis and Blue Korhaan.
Discover the quietude of a bygone era or enjoy conversations with friends around the cosy fireplace of our turn of the century farmhouse – still in its original, Cape Dutch style. The farmhouse accommodates eight guests and the quaint, adjacent cottage sleeps two. Emma, your personal chef and housekeeper, will ensure that your every whim is catered to and your culinary desires met. Emma is an excellent cook and her farm style dinners are a long-standing favourite amongst our regular guests. Meals are enjoyed around the beautiful laid dining room table, or under the trees in the park-like garden with its century old oak trees.
Guests at Wakkerstroom Farm Lodge are ensured of complete privacy as the lodge is rented out on an exclusive basis only. Whether organizing a family gathering or escaping from the bright city lights for some rest and solitude, Wakkerstroom Farm Lodge is the perfect exclusive retreat!
